Q+A – blogging, friends, school

Hey friends!

Thanks for all the lovely questions and everything.  If you like one of the questions, you should write an answer to that q in the comments.

Who do you look up to most? from Paper Girl

That’s a difficult question, because it changes from time to time.  I think right now (concerning famous people) it would be Emma Watson, because of all her work to bring education to girls all over the world and raise awareness for feminism.  Concerning people in my actual life, it would probably be my grandmother for all the awesome changes she’s made in her life or my mom for all her hard work.

(Sorry, that was a long answer.)

What’s your favorite pet/animal? from Ann

I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned this on my blog, but I am not a big animal person. However, I’d have to say a cat, even though I’ve never had one.

Do you like your school?  What don’t you like at school? from Ann

Sort of.  I talked a bit about my school in this post, but other than that I haven’t talked much about my school here.  In general, teens don’t love school, and I don’t love mine either.  I don’t always fit in or agree with the general crowd of my small, conservative school.  But I have several good friends and I have a good environment in which to grow and learn.  And I’m really grateful that I have an education and a good one, too.

Do you have a best friend who tells you about her/his secrets and she/he listens to your problems etc.? If yes, what do you usually do together? also from Ann

I have one or two good friends who I talk to about some things, but I’d have to say my best friend is by far my wonderful, older sister. I’ve grown up with her and I’ve shared so many important experiences with her and I am so grateful for her

Country where you want to live? from Ann

I’d have to say America, because I do love most parts of my country.  But I don’t really want to settle down until a while after college.  If i can, i’d like to travel and experience different cultures and countries.

What inspired you to start blogging? from Jo

I’m not exactly sure, actually.  Reading other people’s blogs and enjoying them, wanting to get my own thoughts out there in an amazing way.

Favorite restaurant/diner? from Jo

Sometimes we go to Lewes, Delaware in the summer, and there’s a cozy bistro there called Kindle, which I love.  Also there’s a certain tavern that serves afternoon tea in a nearby city which I really like.

Are you enjoying blogging? from Thoughts in Life

Yes, I am.  Sometimes it’s a little weird, like I’m not sure if I fit in with this community.  Also, the only people that really know about my blog are my family members.  But it’s like I have created, with the help of you guys, a whole new side of me, a whole new place to turn, a whole new creative and social outlet.

Thank you guys for sticking with me in this first little chapter and helping my blog to grow.  Let’s hope it grows even more!

Who is your favorite blogger? from Thoughts in Life

This question is seriously hard.  I’d have to say the blogs I started with, which inspired me to start my own, such as

Hideaway Girl

Jo Smith – Inquisitive Writer

Faith – Thee Adventurette

But I love reading most of your blogs.  You guys are awesome.

Those are all the questions I was asked.  Thank you to everyone who asked me questions, and thank you for reading.

I also wanted to let you know that I’m taking a break from the tags and awards posts.  I really appreciate being tagged and nominated and those kinds of posts are, for sure, fun.  However, those posts actually take me a while to write because I have to answer all the questions, follow all the rules, and nominate other people, etc.  There are other things i’d like to talk about on my blog, and I feel like all the tags and awards kind of detract from that.

Maybe i’ll explain it to you in more depth in another post.  Just comment down below if you’d like to see that in a post.

Anyway, adventure is out there.

Q+A announcement

Hi friends.  Happy International Women’s Day!  Hope you’re having a good one.

Recently I reached 50 followers.  At that point, I was going to do a Q and A, but quite frankly, I got a bit lazy.  Also, I’m pretty sure I was busy…

Anyway, now I’ve reached 55 followers, so I thought I might finally do this.  I’ll answer practically any question you have for me – from my favorite ice cream to what I think about racism, I’m down for it.  However, I might not have a comment on certain questions, depending on what you ask me (for example, I’m not going to answer if you ask me full names of everyone in my family).

You can leave your questions below in the comments or in the “Contact” page.

The Blue Sky Tag

img_2937

Hi guys and gals.  Thank you to Bridie for nominating me.  And thank you to Waves of Awesomeness for the picture.  (If you use it, guys, please acknowledge her.)

Rules –

Give nominees 11 questions to answer.

Tag 11 people.

Answer the 11 questions.

Thank the person who nominated you.

1.What’s your dream job?

To be a well-known novelist.  I’ve wanted to be a lot of things, and there are still several things that I think would be especially cool as an occupation, but this one has been my dream job for the longest amount of time.

2. What’s one of your biggest accomplishments?

I got first in my state for this one writing contest; I was pretty proud of that.  I don’t think I’m super accomplished though…

3. What’s your favorite month of the year?

Definitely July or August.  July is my birthday month and August is always a peaceful, introspective month for me because I don’t have nearly as much going on as the rest of the summer.

4. If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Invisibility (that I could control – so I could be visible or invisible anytime I please).

5. How would you spend your last day on earth?

If I knew it was my last day to live, I would wake up at 4 am and run 4 miles.  Then I would go to the river at our summer pool/boat club and swim across the river and back.  After that, I would do yoga.  Then I’d come home and wouldn’t even shower (It’s my last day on earth, gosh, don’t judge me).  I would donate half of my life savings so that children in distant countries could have food and girls could have education and distribute the other half among my family.  I would write lengthy goodbyes to the people I really love.  I’d eat an crazy expensive meal.  Then I would hop on a plane and go somewhere, anywhere, watching the pulse of the world beat from the air one last time.  When I landed I would spend the last hours adventuring, turning everything over in my mind.  And probably asking God for more time to see this “bitter, beautiful world” (from Wayfarer, review here).

6. If you could venture into space or the sea which one would it be?

The sea, no doubt.

7. What sort of blog posts do you like to read the most?

It depends on the blogger.  I think I like to read the posts where you can really feel the blogger thinking and feeling things, their happiness or their remorse.

8. Which of your birthdays has been the best so far?

Probably when I turned thirteen and went out to tea with my family then had a sleepover with my best friends of the time.  (That actually sounds a bit lame, thinking back on it.)

9. Can babies talk to themselves in their head if they haven’t learnt any words yet?

Yeah, why not?

10. Have you got an all time favorite film?

Yes.

(See what i did there?)

11. How’s your day going?

Alright.  As I write this, it’s Valentine’s Day, which I’ve never particularly liked.  I’m also sore and a bit tired.  But at least I got chocolate, right?

I tag:

Chloe Amanda

Smiling Dreamer

Uniquely Rosie

Cassiie Girl

Rosinalee

Lorelie Joy

Elsie LMC

The Lazy Wanderlust

Twinkling Words

It’s Just Jessers

Paper Girl

My questions –

  1. If you had to name ONE all-time favorite book, what would it be?
  2. What is your current favorite song?
  3. Do you play any sports?  (If so, which ones?)
  4. What current issue (such as feminism or racism, etc.) is most important to you and why?
  5. How many people have you told about your blog?
  6. If you could live anywhere for the rest of your life, where would it be?
  7. Would you rather get married to the love of your life straight out of high school and stay in your hometown or travel and have your dream job but never get married?
  8. What is the best part of writing a blog, for you?
  9. What do your parents/family think about your blog?
  10. Do you like Starbucks?  If so, what’s your order?
  11. What is your favorite season and why?

The Blogger Recognition Award

Image result for the blogger recognition award

Hey guys and gals.  I’m truly quite pumped for this post, to be honest.

So, I got nominated by the marvelous Rant Girl from Life of a Teenage Ranter  for an award!  This is so crazy.  I don’t know whether or not this is a big deal, but it’s a pretty big deal to me.  Thank you so much, Rant Girl. Go check out her blog, guys, really – it’s fantastic.

Rules –

  1.  Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  2. Write a post to display your award.
  3. Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  4. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
  5. Select (up to) 15 other bloggers for this award.
  6. Comment on each blog to let them know you nominated them and link to the post you created.

The Start of all this –

I’m not entirely sure how this all started.  I used to journal a lot.  At the start of this new year, I got a new journal.  But I didn’t really feel like I was able to express myself like I used to do in my old journal.  It just didn’t come as easily.  (Keep in mind, i still journal, just not like I used to.)  I remembered when I was younger and I very much enjoyed playing with American Girl dolls and I would read blogs about dolls.  Hence, I randomly looked up “high school blogs” or “teenage blogs” on Google and found several wonderful blogs.  I thought, I could do that.  Why not?  So I created a blog, not as my journal necessarily, but as a way to express my thoughts in a better fashion and as a method to learn how to write even better.

Advice for new bloggers –

(Let’s be honest, I still think of myself as a newbie blogger so this might not be great advice.)

I guess to write your heart.  Does that sound weird?  Write about what’s important to you, and on stuff you just like writing about.  Write your thoughts.  Also, be your own person, and your own blogger.  Be unique.

 quotee

(I don’t even really know who Joan Didion is, but it’s a good quote.)

My Nominations –

There are a bunch of super cool people I could nominate, but I’m mostly gonna nominate people who probably haven’t been nominated twenty times already.  If  you have been nominated twenty times and you appear on this list, sorry for my assumptions.  And if you don’t appear on this list, it doesn’t mean that I don’t think you’re wonderful.

Faith  – Thee Adventurette

Paper Girl

Jo Smith – The Inquisitive Writer

An Over Thinker

Willow Girl

Hideaway Girl

I would nominate more people, but I only have so much time and some of the people I thought about nominating have done various award posts recently, so I’ll leave it at that.

Thanks for reading.
